To see the real Mexico you must leave the town and traffic far behind and join us for an expedition into the heart of the jungle where we will show you a Mexico that most tourists, and many Mexicans, never see.
You will be picked up at your hotel and taken on an historical journey that spans 1500 years of Mayan culture. Our first stop is the recently-opened ancestral city of Cobá, an archaeological site hidden deep inside the rain forest of south-eastern Yucatan Peninsula, where we will guide you through the history that pertains to this site.
Walking through these verdant green vegetation-covered ruins one literally feels the ancient rhythms of this once strong city-state, and climbing the Nohoch Muul temple (the highest in the state) one can truly appreciate the pristine beauty and immeasurable vastness of the surrounding sub-tropical rain forest.
Leaving here we head to an authentic Mayan village, a self-sufficient community living next to an integral part of the region's lagoon system. Together with the locals we walk through their forest, learning of the local fauna and flora, enjoy a zip-line flying over an incredibly beautiful cenote, rappel down into another cenote, canoe on a lagoon, and enjoy a delicious lunch prepared by the local Mayan women. Spending time with these Mayan people in the jungle and their village one is able to truly appreciate how they live and survive far from the 'civilized' lifestyles that we are accustomed to.
